Dr Peterson moved to Newcastle in 1988 and studied obstetrics & gynaecology (obtaining the Diploma of Obstetrics) and also anaesthetics. He moved to Coonabarabran in 1989, for the next seven years providing general practice consultations along with obstetric and anaesthetic services to the local hospital. After a year on the coast he moved to Dubbo in December 1996 and has been here ever since.

Dr Peterson's interests in medicine include the everyday challenge of comprehensive holistic general practice care. He has also taken the initiative to undertake postgraduate study in the area of skin cancer medicine. Whilst Dr Peterson no longer provides obstetric and anaesthetic services, he continues to provide weekly services to the aged care facilities in Dubbo, and he has Visiting Medical Officer rights at Dubbo Private Hospital. He enjoys providing teaching to our up-and-coming doctors.

Dr Peterson is married to Anne and has four wonderful adult children, three of whom are married with three of them living locally. He is committed to his family and a Christian world view. He has recently acquired a small acreage out of town with cows, alpacas and hens.
