Dr Merissa Cappetta is an Addiction Medicine Specialist who has spent over 15 years helping people navigate the challenges of alcohol and drug use. Alongside working at Myma Health, she is an Addiction Specialist in Sydney’s Kings Cross, caring for marginalised and vulnerable communities. Over her career, Merissa has worked across rural and metropolitan Australia in major hospitals, inpatient and telehealth withdrawal, Headspace and Aboriginal Medical Services, giving her a broad understanding of what people need at different stages of recovery and life.
Merissa understands that life’s different stages, including menopause, can change the way women experience and use alcohol or other drugs. Her approach is warm, non-judgemental, and she is passionate about supporting patients to explore and make changes that feel right for them. Alongside addiction care, Merissa is experienced in women’s health, including contraception, menopause, and sexual health, and is a certified IUD and Implanon inserter.
