Dr Matt Cottrell is a Clinical Psychologist working in Melbourne primarily in the treatment of trauma-related anxiety and depression. He works at The Victoria Clinic as the Senior Clinical Psychologist managing outpatient services and providing group therapy treatment using schema-focus therapy and CBT. He trains and supervises post-graduate students on placement from the major Melbourne universities. He is the co-founder of Psychology Associates Melbourne.

Matt completed his doctorate examining the relationship between childhood trauma and the outcomes on mental health using a cognitive and attachment theory approach. He uses this knowledge today treating individual with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Schema-Focused Therapy approaches. He understands the impact early life experiences have on an individual and aims to work in a collaborative way to help individuals better manage the psychological difficulties they face. Matt is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Psychologist. He is currently undertaking advanced level training in schema therapy. He has been a member of the APS since 2004 and is a Medicare provider. Matt also does work with the Department of Veterans' Affairs, Worksafe clients and TAC.
