Mathuraa obtained her Medical degree at Monash University in 2007. She went onto do her internship at Austin Hospital, Heidelberg. She has worked within the surgical and paediatric training programs until she decided to join general practice in 2013. She has also completed 6 months of Obstetrics & Gynecology and was a General Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit registrar at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Mercy (Heidelberg) Hospitals respectively. Mathuraa is passionate about enabling all her patients to understand their medical conditions and take charge of their health founded on evidence based medicine. Preventative medicine is also important strategy at every stage of life for good health. Community medicine offers the breadth and depth in all her interest areas and continuity of care best suits her personality. She has a special interest in family planning, paediatric/adolescent medicine, mental heath and chronic illness. She has worked in Nepal through the Fred Hollows Foundation (Tilganga hospital), Shimla base hospital in northern mountainous areas of India and was part of the three month acute medical response team to Sri Lanka post tsunami in 2004. She is proud to call Melbourne home and loves the cultural and culinary diversity of our city.
