I love everything about general practice. I qualified as a medical doctor in 1990 from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. After working in a hospital for 1 year I decided to go into general practice, and owned my own solo practice in a small town. I was the only doctor in town for 15 years so I got a lot of experience over the years in all areas. After selling the surgery, we moved to a city where I was part of a group practice for 2 years. During this time, I also assisted surgeons during major operations.
My husband and I, with our 2 sons, immigrated to Australia in 2008. I immediately started working as GP in a big medical centre and passed my fellowship exam (FRACGP) in 2010. It is really difficult to choose my favourite part of General practice because I love working with people from all age groups. Female health, paediatric medicine, skin checks and small surgical procedures are special interests.
In my free time, I like spending quality time with my husband and sons.
I keep fit and healthy by running regularly.
