Dr Maria Barker-Mott grew up in rural QLD and is a graduate of the University of QLD. She completed her residency years at Redcliffe Hospital and went on to train in GP practices around Brisbane, gaining her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2012.
Dr Barker-Mott has completed further training in Mental Health Focused Psychological strategies with a focus on mindfulness techniques and anxiety management. She has a special interest in the holistic multidisciplinary management of chronic pain conditions. Dr Barker-Mott is admitted as a member of the Australian Pain Society. She has also completed postgraduate training in Medical Acupuncture and is an accredited and highly qualified Medical Acupuncturist. She combines the best of Western and Eastern medicine to optimize the health outcome of her patients.
Dr Barker-Mott has a strong focus on training the next generation of doctors has been involved in the supervision of GP trainee registrars and medical students. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family as well as kung Fu, running and Tai Chi. She is also a qualified Original Strength Coach.
