Dr Marc Wei is our principle specialist Laser and cataract surgeon. He graduated from University of Queensland Medical School in 1989 and underwent specialist training in ophthalmology at Royal Brisbane, Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals in Brisbane culminating the Fellowship of Ophthalmology in 1998. Upon completion of specialist training in Australia, he obtained further subspecialty training in glaucoma, cataract and paediatric ophthalmology at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and at Kings College Hospital, London, UK. Since 2000, he has been being in private practice specialising in cataract, glaucoma and laser refractive surgery on the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney.He is one of the earliest pioneers of toric and multifocal lenses for cataract surgery as well as the first surgeon in Queensland to be accredited for Laser cataract surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, European Society of Refractive and Cataract surgeons and the Australasian Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and is actively involved in research and presentations at ophthalmic conferences as well as teaching at Bond and Griffith University Medical Schools. He also contributes his time to the Myanmar Eye program to help relieve blindness in the developing countries.
