Dr Manfred Penzhorn (Psychiatrist)

Dr Manfred Penzhorn completed his medical training at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. He has 15 years experience working in psychiatry in South Africa, the UK and Australia, in the fields of Forensic Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Psychiatry, Acute Psychiatry and in the Psychiatric care of Older People. He completed his specialist training with the College of Psychiatrists in Australia.

Dr Penzhorn’s interests are wide ranging, including the treatment of depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders and personality disorders. He has a special interest in the treatment of mental health problems that may arise in the course of ageing.

Dr Penzhorn is a Staff Specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital in acute psychiatry and at Robina Hospital at the Older Persons Mental Health Service. He is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and junior doctors, and holds honorary adjunct teaching positions as a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and as Assistant Professor at Bond University.
