Dr Lynette Reid was born and grew up in the Pacific with both parents medical missionaries. She left school to work on a sheep station in Queensland and then studied nursing before changing to Medicine in Newcastle graduating in 1986. Since then she has worked in many places including the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Charleville, in Malaysia with the Vietnamese boat people (IRCRC), and in a remote region in Zimbabwe (AVA) as a senior medical officer. The last 20 years have mainly been in Perth WA with a short 'sea change' stint in New Zealand and Tasmania. There she worked in both medical education and as a General Practitioner. She moved to Dubbo in August 2015 and joined the team at Dubbo Family Doctors in September 2015.
Dr Reid enjoys working with young people – children, adolescents and young adults. She also has a strong interest in mental health issues and medical education.
Outside of work, Dr Reid is a qualified dog trainer with 3 German Shepherd dogs that she drove over from Perth with. She has an acreage outside of Dubbo and plans to have a menagerie before too long. She loves craft of all sorts, cooking for others and of course – dogs!.
