Associate Professor Lyndell Lim (MBBS, FRANZCO) is a Senior Associate Ophthalmologist at Eye Surgery Associates and subspecialises in the field of ocular inflammatory diseases and medical retina.
Dr Lim is also a Senior Research Fellow and the Head of the Clinical Trials Research Unit at the Centre for Eye Research Australia (http://www.cera.org.au/home) Her public hospital appointments as a Consultant Ophthalmologist include the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH) and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she subspecialises in the fields of medical retina and ocular inflammatory diseases. Dr Lim received her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and completed her ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
Dr Lim then embarked on a two year Medical Retina Fellowship at RVEEH, where she was involved in numerous clinical trials investigating novel treatments for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. She then went on to complete a Uveitis Fellowship at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, USA, where she gained expertise in the treatment of ocular inflammatory diseases, particularly with biologics. Her current areas of research include the possible role of inflammation in the pathogenesis of several retinal diseases such as AMD, as well as clinical studies in diabetic retinopathy and uveitis.
Dr Lim has published over forty peer-reviewed articles and five book chapters, and also serves as the Uveitis Section Editor for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. She is also the Chairperson of the Australian and New Zealand Special Interest Group and is a member of the Human Research and Ethics Committee for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
