Dr Luke Jeremijenko (Emergency Physician)

Doctor Jeremijenko graduated from the University of Queensland with a MBBS in 2005. He gained the fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2010, and the fellowship of the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) in 2017.

Doctor Jeremijenko is a consultant Emergency Physician at Wesley Hospital. He is currently a Senior Medical Officer serving with the Australian Defence Force, 2nd Health Battalion. He enlisted in Jun 1998 and graduated from the Royal Military College before embarking on his post graduated medical studies. A highlight of his military career is deploying overseas as the Special Air Force Regiment Medical Officer to an undisclosed location.

In 2021, he was deployed to assist with the evacuation of over 2500 Afghani Refugees. During this time, he managed a Covid-19 outbreak in the refugee camp as well as completing large scale aeromedical evacuations of injured and coronavirus positive patients. Doctor Jeremijenko has previously held positions as a Senior Emergency Registrar (Trauma) at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. His paediatric experience includes completing a Fellowship in Paediatric Emergency Medicine at Queensland Children’s Hospital. As part of this, he has had extensive Paediatric Intensive Care experience and a six month placement with Children’s Retrieval Services conducting retrievals of critically sick and injured children throughout Queensland and Northern NSW. His adult retrieval experience includes placement with the Royal Flying Doctors, Broome Regional Aeromedical Retrievals and extensive tactical military retrievals in Blackhawks.

Doctor Jeremijenko has demonstrated the highest professional performance and dedication to teaching and to support his research. He completed his Certificate IV in Teaching and Assessment in 1999. He has held the academic tittle of Lecturer for over 16 years. His professional attitude towards teaching medical students has seen him promoted to Assistant Professor in 2021.

He actively conducts research and performs peer endorsed Continual Professional Development as part of the Australasian College of Emergency Physicians. He is published and cited in the Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health.

He donates time to events such as "Sony camp" for less advantaged children and provides free health care to said children. He also raises funds for disadvantaged youth as part of the Kokoda Youth program and has recently completed the 98km Kokoda Challenge.

Dr Jeremijenko has been awarded a MENSA scholarship and is looking forward to "paying it forward" to future high IQ children in MENSA.

In his "spare time", he is married, and together with his wife Anne-Marie, they are brining up their 5 young children.
