Dr Lih-Ming Wong (Urologist)
Mr Lih-Ming Wong is a urologist with sub-specialty interest and training in uro-oncology. He enjoys discussing urological symptoms and diseases with his patients to help them better understand the treatments available.
A graduate of Melbourne University, Ming completed his urology training in Victoria in 2009. Subsequently, he spent one year in Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, and two years at Princess Margaret Hospital Toronto in uro-oncology fellowship training. During this time, Ming gained experience in robotic assisted surgery, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, cystectomy and managing complex urological cancer cases.
In addition to his uro-oncology interests, Ming is comfortable managing men with lower urinary tract symptoms and urinary tract stones. For men with difficulties voiding, Ming can offer the Urolift procedure, Greenlight laser prostate vaporisation in addition to standard TURP.
Interests Ming also has an interest in research and education. Through the University of Melbourne, Ming has completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Surgical Anatomy, a Masters of Surgery and Doctor of Medical Science. During his training, Ming was awarded the Keith Kirkland prize. Ming has presented papers at multiple international conferences and also published manuscripts in major journals such as European Urology, British Journal of Cancer and Journal of Urology.
At St Vincent’s, Ming is the Head of Urology Clinic, Supervisor for Education and Training and is involved with University through medical student teaching and the scholarly selective student program.
When not working, Ming enjoys playing the violin, tennis, skiing and travelling with family. He is an active member of Corpus Medico-rum, an orchestra of predominantly doctors.
