Leon Lai is a cerebrovascular and skull base neurosurgeon. He specialises in the surgical treatment of aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, cavernous malformation, acoustic neuroma, brain tumours and pituitary tumours. Dr Lai also practices spinal surgery.
Dr Lai undertook additional subspecialty training and research in cerebrovascular neurosurgery. He was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) for his work that focused on the surgical management and innovations in the treatment of brain aneurysms. He co-directs and conducts his research at the Monash Health and Monash University with a collaborative research group, focusing on clinical and innovative cerebrovascular neurosurgery.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters on neurovascular surgery. He lectures at Monash University and is active in registrar, resident and medical student teaching courses. He presents at local, national and international scientific meetings.
