Leo studied Medicine at Melbourne University and graduated in 1991. He went on to complete his internship and residency years at the Western and Austin Hospitals gaining a broad range of medical and surgical experience. Since 1996 Leo has worked exclusively in anaesthesia and intensive care.

During his registrar years Leo worked at Albury Base Hospital, Western Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, and Mercy Hospital for Women. Leo's fellowship year was split between the Western and Royal Melbourne Hospitals and he went on to take a visiting specialist position at Western Hospital.

In 2003 Leo joined the Albert St Anaesthetic Group and now works predominately in private practice. Areas of interest include anaesthesia for the following surgical disciplines - plastic & reconstructive, orofaciomaxillary, colorectal and upper gastrointestinal, bariatric, obstetric, gynaecological, urological, orthopaedic, paediatric dental and ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat).

Leo is a fellow of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and participates in its CPD program. He is also a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists.
