Dr Lachlan Dandie is a specialist Upper GI, General and Bariatric surgeon, and Head of Unit for Upper GI/HPB Surgery at NALHN (Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals).
Dr Dandie's medical degree (BMBS) was obtained at Flinders University, graduating in 1998. After intern and resident years, he entered surgical training in Melbourne, based at Monash Medical Centre, and gained entry to advanced training in General Surgery in 2006. He was awarded FRACS in 2010, and completed post fellowship training in UGI/HPB Surgery at Box Hill Hospital (Eastern Health) in 2010 and 2011, followed by a final fellow year at Monash Medical Centre in 2012.
In 2013, Dr Dandie returned to Adelaide and took up a consultant post at Lyell McEwin Hospital. Since this time, he has been made Head of Unit for UGI/HPB Surgery, and commenced in private practice with SA Group of Specialists.
Surgical procedures performed include advanced laparoscopic procedures, including bariatric procedures (sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass), cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration, anti-reflux procedures (fundoplication), inguinal and ventral/ incisional hernia surgery (both laparoscopic and open), splenectomy, and resections for Upper GI cancer (gastrectomy/ oesophagectomy). Dr Dandie also performs all types of general surgery, including hernia, bowel resection and minor surgeries such as carpal tunnel and ingrowing toenails. Upper GI Endoscopy procedures are also provided.
He is also a member of ANZGOSA, ANZHPBA, ANZMOSS and General Surgeons Australia.
