Dr Kim Proudlove's role at Alfred Health has involved the growth of a new state-wide Acquired Brain Injury Unit. Kim's ward work is done closely alongside nursing and allied health to provide a safe environment for all, particularly with behavioural management. She supervises and trains rehabilitation registrars and junior doctors.
"I greatly enjoy teaching and run a regular tutorial on emergency management of tracheostomy patients. I have a busy clinic and also do community outreach work, reviewing brain injured patients with a high level of disability in the community. I work hard as a disability advocate for my patients. I am skilled in spasticity management, including botulinum toxin and phenol injections. I am committed to ongoing learning and continuing medical education. My work on the unit also involves regular liaison with other medical specialists, especially neurologists and neurosurgeons."
Kim's role at Cabrini health is in the private sector, and the majority of my patients are older. I work alongside geriatricians and consult with them as necessary. Her work is across a number of general rehabilitation conditions, but has had great experience in neurorehabilitation such as Parkinson’s disease and stroke. Other conditions include frailty and deconditioning, postoperative management, falls and fractures.
