Dr Kerry Crotty (BSc (Med), MB BS, FRCPA and FACD) is both a pathologist and dermatologist. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, one of only a few persons to hold both Fellowships.
Dr Crotty studied Medicine at the University of New South Wales and undertook her Pathology training at St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She has been a Senior Lecturer in the University of Sydney Pathology Department, a Pathologist in the Department of Anatomical Pathology Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and a Dermatopathologist at the Skin and Cancer Foundation, Sydney. She did a Pathology Research Fellowship in the Dermatopathology Department, Massachusetts General Hospital, at Harvard Medical School.
Kerry undertook her Dermatology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Newcastle and John Hunter Hospitals, Westmead Hospital, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, The Skin and Cancer Foundation and St Vincent’s Hospital. She has practised clinical dermatology at the Sydney Melanoma Unit, the Sydney Melanoma Diagnostic Centre and in country NSW at Griffith. Most recently Kerry established and led a boutique skin pathology practice CPCPath.
Kerry has been the President of the Australasian Dermatopathology Society (ADS) and is the current Secretary. She has been a Convener for four of their Annual Scientific Meetings.
She has published widely in the field of skin pathology and the diagnosis of melanoma and other skin cancers. She is a co-author of “Dermoscopy: An Atlas” (Menzies, Crotty, Ingvar, McCarthy) a textbook used by both Australian and overseas doctors in the diagnosis of melanoma and other skin tumors. This text is now in its third edition.
She has lectured both in Australia and overseas including as an invited speaker at the American Society of Dermatopathology Annual Meeting, the International Society of Dermatopathology Annual Meeting in Florence, the International Academy of Pathology International Conference in Japan and at several international melanoma conferences.
Kerry enjoys teaching dermatology and pathology registrars as well as other medical practitioners. She is delighted to be working once again with Steven and being a part of the new Kossard Dermatopathologists team.
