Dr Cutbush's principal interest is shoulder surgery.

Dr Cutbush completed and received his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1991. Following this he undertook his internship and several years of junior surgical training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Dr Cutbush passed his first part surgical examination in 1994, being awarded the Gordon-Taylor Prize. He initially started training in neurosurgery and then changed to orthopaedics. He concluded his orthopaedic training, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in January 2003.

Ken undertook his postgraduate orthopaedic fellowship training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in hand and upper limb surgery. The focus of this fellowship entailed extensive clinical duties and a research component. He gained comprehensive experience in microsurgery for replantation surgery, hand trauma, and major upper limb orthopaedic trauma. A large focus of the fellowship included tertiary referral shoulder surgery and Dr Cutbush gained a wide experience in shoulder surgery including arthroscopic reconstruction and joint replacement surgery.

Dr Cutbush has published in international medical journals. His continued commitment to education and research into new techniques and procedures assists his ongoing training and instruction of developing orthopaedic surgeons. Dr Cutbush’s commitment to further education through research and training sees him travel both nationally and internationally to attend courses and conferences. Ken was awarded the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia International Travelling Fellowship and in 2011 he visited members of the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

Ken’s postgraduate study notes formed the basis of boneschool.com and Ken is a founder of boneschool.com, which is a reference for Orthopaedic Trainees studying for their Orthopaedic Exams.

As well as his private appointment at the Brisbane Private Hospital, Dr Cutbush has a public appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he cares for people with upper limb injuries and conditions. Dr Cutbush is actively involved in the Brisbane Private Hospital. He is the Chairman of the Brisbane Private Hospital Patient Care Review Committee and a member of the Brisbane Private Medical Advisory Committee.

Dr Ken Cutbush is proud to be a member of the Hand and Upper Limb Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is actively engaged in the education of Australian Orthopaedic Trainee Surgeons and the overseas Fellows that attend the Hospital each year for subspecialty training with our group in Hand and Shoulder Surgery.
