Kayvan Haghighi graduated from Medicine at Adelaide University in 1996 after completing his secondary education at Norwood High School. He developed an early interest in surgery whilst in medical school, and he subsequently undertook medical and surgical rotations through Westmead Hospital.
He was accepted into General Surgical training in 2001 followed by Urological training in 2003. He passed his final exams on his first attempt. In 2006 he undertook further specialist training in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin in Transplant and Uro-Oncology.
Dr Haghighi joined the Macarthur Urology Group and has performed over 1000 minimally invasive cancer surgeries including more than 400 Robotic cases and 1000 open cancer cases.
He is the Head of Department of Urology and Campbelltown Public Hospital and introduced Robotic Surgery to Campbelltown Private Hospital in 2014. He is the Head of the Medical Advisory Council in Campbelltown Private Hospital and also the Head of Urology and Robotic surgery He was an early adopter of Robotic Surgery and has successfully proctored many other surgeons in this field.
He is one of only four accredited urologists in Sydney South West Area Health Service for robotic prostate surgery and one of only two accredited for robotic kidney surgery.
Dr Haghighi is passionate about and committed to expanding services in the Macarthur area in both the public and private settings. He performed the first laparoscopic kidney operation in Campbelltown private, introduction of laser prostate surgery and Robotic prostate surgery in Liverpool. He has enjoyed an active role in training many Urologists who have now joined Macarthur Urology.
