A 2003 Queensland medical graduate and locally-trained Neurologist (PAH, Greenslopes Private, Prince Charles, RBWH and Gold Coast), Karen developed a special interest in Neurophysiology after undertaking a prestigious Fellowship in Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Disease in 2012 at the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) in Sydney, under the supervision of some of Australia’s leading specialists in the neurological subspecialty of electro-diagnostic neurophysiology and neuromuscular disease. Since that time, she has continued for some years to work and gain further clinical experience running neurophysiology clinics, while continuing to collaborate with recognised national leaders in this field. She plans to utilise this deep knowledge and skill base on the Sunshine Coast to make a high-quality electro-diagnostic service available for the work-up of relevant neurological conditions, in close collaboration with local general practitioners and medical specialists. Karen and her family have now set down their roots on the Sunshine Coast, and she will shortly open the CNS Birtinya practice, across the road from the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. She is passionate about neurophysiology, enjoys close interaction with her patients, and looks forward to building close professional relationships with colleagues and referrers in the local medical community, as the Sunshine Coast is now her permanent home.
