Dr Karen Cheung graduated in medicine from the University of Sydney and completed her pathology training at Repatriation General Hospital of Concord. Since then she has been working in both private and public pathology practices and was associate lecturer at the University of Sydney. She joined the Skin & Cancer Foundation Australia in mid 2003.

Dr Chung enjoys all aspects of dermatopathology and has a strong commitment to teaching, particularly in microscopic teaching sessions. She is also a part time Staff Specialist at Nepean Hospital, a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney, a position she has held since 1996.

Beside dermatopathology, she also has special interest in gynaecological and gastrointestinal pathology. She has been tutoring medical students, plastic surgery, dermatology and pathology trainees throughout her career. Her special interests include melanocytic lesions, skin appendageal tumours, inflammatory dermatoses, cutaneous lymphoma and cutaneous mesenchymal tumours.
