Kalilur Anvardeen (Kalil) completed his medical degree (MBBS) from India in 2003. Prior to starting his physician training at Royal Perth Hospital in 2006, he worked as a senior house medical officer in India and at Barnsley General District Hospital, UK. He completed 3 years of advanced cardiology training at Sir Charles Gairdner and Royal Perth Hospitals in 2013. He subsequently undertook specialized fellowship training in echocardiography at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and then worked as a Consultant Cardiologist in Townsville, QLD.

Kalil’s passion for research and echocardiography persuaded him to undertake a further fellowship in advanced echocardiography at the North American Centre of Excellence, University of Ottawa Heart Institute where he worked closely with world experts in echocardiography including Dr Ian Burwash and Dr Kwan Chan. During his fellowship he was also involved in Aortic and Adult Congenital Heart Diseases clinical sessions.

He has presented his research at various international conferences such as American Heart Association, Chicago Nov 2014 and the World Congress Cardiology, Melbourne May 2014. His recent research work in 3D echocardiography regarding incidence of tricuspid regurgitation post permanent pacemaker was presented at the American Society of Echocardiography conference in June 2016 at Seattle, Washington.

Kalil’s special interests include:

Performance and reporting of non-invasive cardiac testing (stress ECG, stress echo, 24 hours BP moniter, Holter), Transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) including 3D, TTE, 3D echo, cardiac strain and strain rate assessment in chemotherapy, Valvular heart disease including rheumatic heart disease, Dobutamine stress echo in aortic stenosis (i.e. to differentiate true from pseudosevere aortic stenosis), Assisting with TOE during percutaneous interventional and perioperative procedures, and Research in 3D echocardiography.
