Dr Joy Lee (Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Specialist)

Dr Lee has a special interest in the management and treatment of allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis (hayfever) and allergic asthma, and has experience in the use of immunotherapy (desensitisation) for grass pollen and dust mite allergy as well as new monoclonal antibody treatments for severe asthma. She is currently involved in research in severe asthma, vocal cord dysfunction and thunderstorm asthma.

Dr Lee completed her basic medical training at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, graduating with a Bachelor of Human Biology in 2005 and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2007. She completed her basic physician training at the Alfred hospital with further specialty advanced training in Respiratory and Sleep medicine at Monash Medical Centre and St Vincent’s hospitals in Melbourne. In 2015 she became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and in 2016 she completed a fellowship in Severe Asthma and Allergy at the Alfred hospital.

Dr Lee is a current member of the Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand (TSANZ), the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), European Respiratory Society (ERS), American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA).
