Joseph Virgona founded the East Geelong Medical Centre as a solo practitioner at 40 Ormond Road in June 1983. He was born and educated in Geelong and attended the University of Melbourne where he graduated in 1975 at the age of 23. He trained at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne for 4 years and returned to Geelong in 1980 doing General Practice Locum. Dr Virgona has interests in Internal medicine, Geriatric medicine, Sports medicine and Industrial medicine. He is married with 6 adult children, follows the Geelong Football Club and in the local leagues – St Joseph’s Football and Netball clubs.
