Mr Joseph Thomas is an Australian trained Urologist who has a sub specialist interest in endourology – robotic & laparoscopic surgery and kidney stone surgery.
Joseph completed his Australian training in Victoria in 2002. He travelled to the UK and worked in Oxford and Leeds before taking up a position as Head of Endourology at Southampton General Hospital, UK. Southampton General Hospital is one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals. After 4 years establishing an Endourology unit in Southampton, Joseph returned to the eastern suburbs of Melbourne where he provides all aspects of urological surgical care with an endourology subspecialist interest.
As the Head of a large kidney stone unit, Joseph gained vast endourological experience. He has performed over 2500 kidney stone procedures, in particular, specialising in complex kidney stones and recurrent stone forming conditions.
Joseph has been internationally trained regarding prostate cancer management. He is fully qualified in robotic surgery and provides comprehensive prostate cancer management in collaboration with medical and radiation oncologists via weekly multidisciplinary meetings.
Joseph holds a consultant urological positions at Eastern Health – Box Hill, Maroondah, The Angliss and Lilydale Hospitals. He operates privately at the Epworth Eastern and Knox.
He consults in Boronia, Mooroolbark, Rowville, Ringwood, Box Hill and Surrey Hills.
Joseph is a fellow of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, The Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
