Jonathan is a clinical and research anaesthetist with an interest in perioperative medicine (medical care around the time of an operation).

Following completion of medical and anaesthesia training in Melbourne, Jonathan undertook fellowship training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Royal Children’s Hospital. Subsequently, he completed an advanced fellowship in cancer anaesthesia at The Royal Marsden, London – the UK’s specialist cancer centre. He has also worked in the developing nations of Papua New Guinea and East Timor training local anaesthesia providers. Jonathan is currently employed as a specialist anaesthetist at Peter Mac.

In addition to clinical work, Jonathan undertook a PhD investigating the role of common anaesthetic and analgesia medications to improve patients’ recovery from the

inflammation of cancer surgery. His research, publications and lecturing roles centre on safe practices for implementing anaesthesia and perioperative medicine into everyday practice.

Jonathan regularly participates in Continuing Professional Development activities through the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

Outside of anaesthesia, Jonathan enjoys coffee, hiking, house renovating, gardening and exploring different parts of the world with his family.

Jonathan’s overriding aim is to provide you a safe and appropriate anaesthetic, and to assist you achieving a quick and comfortable recovery from your surgery.
