Dr John Preston has been caring for patients in Greenslopes Private Hospital and the Bayside for well over a decade. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate, bladder and kidney problems including cancer. He has particular interests in minimally invasive surgery for kidney stones, laparoscopic kidney surgery, kidney transplantation and the endoscopic treatment of voiding symptoms.
Dr Preston started his professional career as a Pharmacist and researcher leading to a Masters Degree in 1982. Moving on to Medicine he graduated with a University Medal for his studies in 1990. On completion of his surgical training in Brisbane, he was awarded the Urological Society Travelling Fellowship to the United Kingdom and practiced at the internationally regarded Institute of Nephrology and Urology in London and the Oxford Transplant Centre. He has held executive positions within the state Urological Society and has served on numerous quality and teaching committees at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
On his return to Brisbane he opened the Greenslopes Urology Clinic in 1999. He continues as a senior surgeon in the Queensland Renal Transplant Service and offers private consulting, inpatient care and surgical services at the Greenslopes Private and Mater Redlands hospitals. He has public Urology and Transplant appointments at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
