Dr Tyson Doneley is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in conditions of the lower limb including hip and knee replacement, sports injuries, arthroscopy and trauma.

Dr Doneley grew up in Brisbane. He undertook his medical schooling in Sydney at the University of New South Wales before returning to Queensland where he completed his advanced training in orthopaedic surgery. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian college of Surgeons in 2010.

In 2011 and 2012 he undertook dual fellowships in lower limb arthroplasty and reconstruction. He studied at the Gold Coast Centre for Bone and Joint Surgery where his experience covered hip and knee arthoplasty, sports injuries of the lower limb and knee, arthroscopic surgery and meniscal surgery.

In the United Kingdom he was the Hip Research Fellow at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre located in Exeter under the tutelage of world renowned hip surgeons John Timperley, Graham Gie, Matthew Hubble and Jonathan Howell. His clinical work in the “Exeter Hip Unit” (home of the “Exeter Total Hip Replacement”) focused exclusively on disorders of the hip, with extensive experience in all facets of hip replacement surgery including complex and revision surgery.

He is also extensively experienced in management of acute and traumatic orthopaedic conditions, including both adult and paediatric fracture management.

Dr Doneley maintains a leading and ongoing responsibility in teaching and training in his role as Director of Orthopaedics at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital. He has undertaken research and presented both nationally and internationally.
