A North Queenslander, he graduated from University of Queensland in 1991 and completed basic physician training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Advanced physician training in Thoracic Medicine and Sleep Medicine was conducted at Monash Medical Centre and at the Alfred in Melbourne, and at Westmead Hospital in Sydney. He then completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. He relocated to Townsville in 2002 and maintains an interest in general respiratory medicine, bronchoscopy and pleural disease, respiratory failure and sleep medicine including sleep apnoea. In addition to his private practice located on Fulham Road in Pimlico, he supervises comprehensive pulmonary function assessment within the Mater Hospital, and reports diagnostic sleep studies and treatment titration sleep studies performed at the Mater Hospital. He also maintains a part-time appointment as senior staff specialist at the Townsville Hospital.
