Eye Specialist, Cataract and Oculoplastic Surgeon MBBS BE PhD FRANZCO Dr Jennifer Tan has special interest in Cataract surgery , Eyelid surgery including Blepharoplasty, Ectropion/entropion , Ptosis , Lid trauma surgery, Eyelid cancer excision and reconstruction, Tear duct surgery including endoscopic (scar-less) DCR, Macular degeneration and Glaucoma Dr Jennifer Tan completed her undergraduate medical degree at The University of Sydney. She undertook specialist ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
Jennifer completed a Cataract Fellowship at Monash Hospital, Victoria’s largest cataract service provider, where she gained substantial experience in cataract surgery. She then undertook further sub-specialty training in oculoplastics through the prestigious Orbital Plastics and Lacrimal Fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. This included significant experience in eyelid surgery such as blepharoplasty, ptosis correction, surgical treatment of eyelid cancers, and correction of eyelid malpositions such as ectropion and entropion. Jennifer also gained significant experience in tear duct surgery to correct watery eye such as DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy), including endoscopic (scarless) DCR.
Jennifer has a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney for which she was awarded a NHMRC research scholarship. Her PhD thesis involved research for the Blue Mountains Eye Study, a landmark population-based study in ophthalmology. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at several national and international conferences.
Jennifer has a public appointment at Monash Health. Jennifer is committed to providing up-to-date, evidence-based and safe treatment to ensure the highest standard of care for her patients.
