Dr Jeffrey Ball is a Consultant Child, Youth, & Family Psychiatrist who provides a psycho-therapeutic approach to improving mental health in young people and their families. His primary focus is helping people around difficulties with their sense of self, along with mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Dr Ball has studied internationally in Canada and Australia, and has a background in psychology and research prior to pursuing his career in medicine and psychiatry. He completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney and his postgraduate psychiatry training primarily in South Eastern and Central Sydney. He has worked in various capacities in a variety of mental health organisations including Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, Prince of Wales Hospital, Rivendell Family Mental Health Service, and others. In addition to private practice, Dr Ball works within the Sydney Local Health District as a Consultant Psychiatrist in their community adolescent outreach services. At Family Talks Clinic, Dr Ball offers brief and longer-term psychotherapy options for young people and their families depending on what is required. Medication is sometimes recommended and prescribed as an additional treatment option if suitable. Each case is assessed at an individual and family level to determine what treatment options are most appropriate and to establish a plan with the young person and family.
