I grew up in Yorkshire (England) and went to university in Bristol. After graduating, I worked in Westminster and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London and in York before catching the study and travel bug! I wanted to continue my studies in oral surgery, but also liked travel, so I applied, and was accepted into, the training programme in Adelaide.
Having successfully completed the training, I worked in private practice in Adelaide before starting Rose Park Oral Surgery in 2007. I merged this practice with Dr Khouri in 2017 so that I could work part time. Although it might sound a little clichéd, I enjoy talking to my patients, finding out what ‘makes them tick’ as well as providing them with personalised care and attention. My main interests are dento alveolar surgery and oral pathology.
I have been a member of the Army Reserve for nearly 30 years, and as such have commanded the 3rd Health Support Battalion, and served overseas in Bougainville and East Timor. I am secretary of the Australasian Military Medicine Association. I also maintain a keen interest in risk management and serve on several committees in relation to this.
Outside work, I like to keep fit, attending the gym and with long distance hiking. I also enjoy trying to tame the wilderness which is my garden, and also enjoy dressmaking. I also have volunteered my time to assist the under-privileged in Vietnam on four occasions, where I perform mainly extractions for those who cannot otherwise afford it.
