Dr Scorer completed his Medical Degree at the University of Pretoria, South Africa after a short career in Wildlife Management and the Study of Animal Behaviour (Primate Ethology). He completed his junior medical years at Edendale Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, Natal where he developed an interest in Paediatrics. He completed his specialist training at Tygerburg Hospital, through the University of Stellenbosch, qualifying with a Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and a Fellowship of the South African College of Physicians in 1990. After completing his training Dr Scorer went into Private Practice for 3 years in Pietermaritzburg. During those years’ Civil Unrest and Violence made the Practice non-viable and in 1993 he left South Africa with his wife and 3 children to take up a position at Tawam Hospital, Al Ain in the UAE as Consultant Neonatologist. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit had 8 Intensive Care Beds and catered for infants from 24 weeks’ gestation with all the latest technology. In 1999 for family reasons Dr Scorer took up a Position as Consultant Paediatrician in Blenheim, New Zealand. While there he was awarded his fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and in 2005 moved once again to take up a position in Taree, NSW. In 2006 Dr Scorer and family made their final move to the Sunshine Coast. In addition to consulting through Sunshine Coast Paediatrics and giving care to the newly born babies in Ward 1A at Buderim Private Hospital, he is a Visiting Senior Specialist at Nambour General Hospital, where he does regular General Paediatric Clinics.
