Dr French is a specialist breast and endocrine surgeon with over 10 years experience as a consultant surgeon. He completed fellowships at the NSW Breast Cancer Institute and in Portsmouth in the UK. Currently he is the head of breast surgery at the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute, where he has overseen the successful introduction of so called “oncoplastic” breast surgery. This has resulted in many more women being able to access immediate breast reconstruction as well as a significant improvement in the general aesthetic results from breast conserving operations. Dr French works in a multidisciplinary team that prides itself on providing up to date, high quality care. He is involved in numerous research projects and is the clinical lead for a number of them.He is an enthusiastic teacher of surgical trainees and is involved in the tutoring and examination of medical students. Dr French typically attends 2 international breast cancer conferences / year with the aim of keeping up with the latest techniques in breast cancer surgery. Dr French provides care for patients in both the public and private sectors.
