Dr. Irwin Pakula graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of New South Wales in 1978. He graduated as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1986. Dr Pakula has been a Consultant Psychiatrist both in Private and Public Psychiatric Practice and the Director of Mental Health Services for the Illawarra Area Health Service for 11 years.
Dr. Pakula is currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Wollongong. He has private consulting rooms at South Coast Private Hospital where he sees both outpatients and inpatients. As the Medical Superintendent at South Coast Private Psychiatric Hospital, he is also a Visiting Psychiatrist at Lawrence Hargrave Hospital in Thirroul
