Dr Bretherton is passionate about providing high quality health care to people from all walks of life. She has a special interest in trans health as well as endocrine issues during pregnancy. She also welcomes all general endocrinology referrals in adult patients.

Dr Ingrid Bretherton completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2010. She completed her training at Austin and Monash Health and was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2017. Dr Bretherton is a medical researcher at The University of Melbourne and has a PhD looking at the effects of hormone therapy on bone health, body composition and quality of life in gender diverse Australians.

Dr Bretherton has appointments at Austin Health and Western Health. She currently mentors medical students and Endocrinology advanced trainees and is an examiner at The University of Melbourne Medical School.

She is the recipient of various awards including the Australian Postgraduate Award and Rowden White Scholarship (University of Melbourne), Endocrine Society Australia Travel Award, the US Endocrine Society Early Careers Forum Travel Award and the AMRF Bernie Sweet Fellowship.
