Dr Ilana Ginges (Rheumatologist)

Dr Ilana Ginges graduated from University of New South Wales with 1st Class Honours in 1996. After general residency training she completed a Diploma of Paediatrics and two years of Paediatric training at Sydney Children’s Hospital. She then obtained her Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2006, specialising in adult Rheumatology.

Ilana spent four years as a visiting Rheumatologist in Tamworth. She believes in the importance of good access to medical care for rural and regional patients, and regularly consults via Telehealth conferencing. She established a thriving practice at St Vincent’s Clinic before joining Combined Rheumatology Practice, and is a Visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent’s Private Hospital.

Ilana is interested in all aspects of Rheumatology. Caring for women through the childbearing years is a particular interest. Her paediatric training gives her great insight into treating young adults with arthritis as they transition into adulthood. She treats patients holistically, with an open-minded and compassionate approach. She believes that good communication and patient education are of utmost importance when managing chronic disease.
