Hugh completed a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Psychology) with first class honours at Macquarie University. After working as a receptionist, research assistant and disability support worker for ASPECT, he began postgraduate training in clinical psychology at the University of Queensland (UQ). During his clinical training, Hugh completed placements at the UQ Psychology Clinic, UQ Child and Family Parenting Centre, Minds & Hearts Clinic, Prince Charles Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He has worked with individuals of all ages with a variety of psychological concerns and has completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Social Skills Training. He is an accredited provider of the Triple P Positive Parenting Program, as well as the Secret Agent Society Program, which works on improving the social and emotional skills of children. His doctoral thesis examined the effectiveness of a caregiver-directed version of the Secret Agent Society Program – . He was awarded the Student Prize in Clinical Psychology at UQ for his graduating year. Hugh has a specific interest in autism spectrum conditions across the lifespan and is passionate about evidence-based clinical practice. He has been employed and undergone training with the team at the Minds and Hearts Clinic, in Brisbane under the supervision of Dr Michelle Garnett and Professor Tony Attwood from 2014 to 2016. He is currently completing a Graduate Certificate of Autism Diagnosis through the University of Western Australia.
