Dr McGregor completed his Medical Degree with first class honours from the University of Queensland. Following this he completed and was awarded a PhD from Monash University. He completed his advanced surgical training at the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital and at various hospitals around the state.

Dr McGregor is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery. He is a member of the Breast Section of the RACS. He is a member of General Surgeons Australia and sits on the Qld Regional Board of General Surgery. He is the Director of Surgical Training at Redcliffe Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at The University of Queensland. He is a busy dad with 4 young children.

He has particular interest in advanced laparascopic surgery, including hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery & bowel resection. He has a major focus on using the HALRAR technique for haemorrhoid surgery. His other main focus and interest is caring for ladies with breast cancer.
