Gilla graduated from Monash University in 1976. She has worked as a GP in Melbourne for many years, including three years of paediatrics at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Queen Victoria Hospital. She was an educator of medical registrars and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice.
