Mr George Somjen is currently the Head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Frankston Hospital, Peninsula Health, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Monash University, Melbourne. Mr Somjen is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCSEd). During his surgical training he was awarded the Master of Surgery (MS) degree at the University of Melbourne. He also obtained the Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU). Throughout his career, Mr Somjen has been involved in teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates. In his phlebology practice, he performs a wide array of diagnostic and interventional procedures from sclerotherapy to endovenous surgery. Mr Somjen has a wide clinical research interest, which encompasses both venous and arterial disorders. He has published a number of scientific papers and book chapters and has been invited speaker at several vascular conferences. He is also one of the Associate Editors of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Phlebology. Mr Somjen is the current Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Phlebology and member of several international vascular surgical associations.
