Dr Trim was registered as a medical practitioner in 1992, after completing his medical degree at the University of Sydney. Subsequently he trained at the Royal Prince Alfred and Royal North Shore Hospitals of Sydney, The Canberra Hospital and John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle. He gained further experience at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
In addition to General Cardiology, Dr Trim specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including diagnostic electrophysiology and ablation procedures, and the implantation and follow-up of pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr Trim has completed Fellowships in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of British Columbia, Canada and at London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ontario, Canada. During this time he completed over 700 electrophysiological procedures, many of a complex nature. He also holds postgraduate diplomas in Echocardiography from Australia and the United States.
Dr Trim has published articles in major international medical journals, including The Lancet, The Medical Journal of Australia and the Journal of Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and a Member of the Heart Rhythm Society, the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and the Australian Medical Association.Dr Trim has admitting rights to Allamanda, Pindara, and John Flynn Private Hospitals.
