I obtained my medical degree at Sydney University, graduating with honours in 1992. My specialist ophthalmology training was done at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick, where I acquired all the varied skills needed to become a general ophthalmologist. In 2002 I then spent a year at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London with a particular focus on cataract surgery.While my main interests are in cataract surgery and glaucoma, I also enjoy the daily variety of general ophthalmology as it gives me the opportunity to treat people of all ages groups with many different eye conditions, including uveitis, neuro-ophthalmology, paediatric ophthalmology, pterygium surgery, medical retina and others.For the last 10 years I have also been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital. I recently made the decision to step aside from this role so that I could devote myself full-time to our practice here at Visionary Eye Specialists. I still have an active role as part of the Outback Eye Service with regular trips to the remote communities of Bourke and Broken Hill. I thoroughly enjoy these trips to the bush and it is a privilege to provide the people of the far west with much needed eye care.I also have an active interest in charity work, which I find immensely rewarding and humbling. Over the years I have performed volunteer eye surgery in Papua New Guinea and Myanmar (Burma). More recently, in association with the Fred Hollows Foundation, I have worked in Alice Springs performing cataract surgery for people from remote indigenous communities of central Australia.
