Fiona is a paediatrician who has worked and lived in Fiji and Vietnam for >10 years with her husband and young children. She has travelled independentally with her family to most continents on many adventures. Recently she was based at Vietnam’s largest paediatric hospital in Hanoi for >3 years. In addition, she worked at the International SOS in Hanoi as a paediatrician providing immunisation and health care for expatriate and travelling families. She has worked for the Centre for International Child Health (a WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Child and Neonatal Health), Dept. of Paediatrics, The University of Melbourne for ~15 years, and more recently, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, The Royal Children’s Hospital.

She has undertaken many consultancies for WHO on vaccine preventable diseases in the Asia-Pacific region and her research has guided vaccine introduction in many underprivileged settings. Her research is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Gavi Alliance, Australian Aid, and WHO.

She undertakes vaccine preventable disease research in Fiji, Laos, Vietnam, PNG, and Mongolia, and research related to newborn health in Ethiopia. Fiona works in the travel immunisation clinic at CPMG.
