Based in Fitzroy delivering at St Vincent’s Private and Epworth Freemasons Hospitals, Fiona is a passionate obstetrician and gynaecologist who loves her job.
Fiona specialises in high and low risk obstetrics and infertility.She loves the experience of caring for women and their families at such an exciting time in their lives. She provides specialised care with warmth and compassion.
Fiona developed a love of obstetrics when she was a medical student.She was privileged to have the opportunity to work in a Tanzanian hospital where she saw the difference that great care can make in women’s lives. That passion translated into the Queen Victoria Hospital prize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in her final year of medical school at Monash University.
After an intern year at Box Hill Hospital and then working at the Royal Women’s hospital in Neonatology for a year Fiona commenced her post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Women’s Hospital in 2000. Her training included time at The Geelong and Northern Hospitals and was completed at the Mercy Hospital for Women where she was appointed as a consultant Obstetrician on completion. Her final 12 months of training involved a fellowship year in Infertility .
Fiona spent ten years at the Mercy where she loved the complexity of high risk cases as well as the teaching and mentoring roles.
Fiona is currently engaged in training the next generation with medical students from both Monash and Melbourne Universities. Fiona attends conferences and seminars regularly to remain up to date with the latest research both in Australia and overseas. She is committed to working towards providing the best model of care possible for women. She is currently serving on the Obstetric committee at St Vincent’s hospital.
Fiona is married with 3 kids and a dog. When not working Fiona loves running, gardening, travelling and hanging out with her family.
