Dr Eoin McCarthy graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1989. Following his arrival in Australia in 1991, he worked at the Swan Hill District Hospital where he met his wife Wendy. He worked in Cairns in the mid-nineties at the Cairns Base Hospital in Emergency, Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as Relieving Medical Superintendent at Gordonvale. He then returned to Victoria and worked in General Practice, Psychiatry and Brain Disorders. He and his wife Wendy and son William returned to Cairns in 2000 where he joined Dr Tony Turner at the Showground’s Shopping Centre. He continues to have a special interest in Mental Health and especially the treatment of Depression and Anxiety in Men and Men’s Health. Eoin is a past Board Member of General Practice Cairns and Pathways. He is a keen fisherman and enjoys camping, boating and fishing on the Great Barrier Reef.
