Dr Elizabeth Jarvis graduated from the University of Sydney and completed her years of Nephrology and General Medicine training with a special interest in Obstetric Medicine at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

Having worked for over 10 years in the public sector and over 10 years in the private sector in Nephrology, General Medicine and Obstetric Medicine, she is experienced in managing wide-ranging and complex medical problems and has had a long and active role in training of medical students and junior doctors.

Dr Jarvis has special interests in not only in general aspects of kidney disease across all age groups including chronic kidney disease, dialysis and transplantation, but has particular interests in Obstetric Nephrology including dialysis and renal transplantation in pregnancy (along with management of immunosuppressive agents in pregnancy), all stages of chronic kidney disease in pregnancy, preeclampsia and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

She also has experience in managing many other non-nephrology diseases in pregnancy particularly gestational diabetes and diabetes in pregnancy. She also offers pre-pregnancy counselling and post-delivery care. The unique pregnancy medicine experience and expertise which most renal specialists do not have, means that Dr Jarvis can offer full lifetime care for her female patients. For female patients with any type of kidney disease hoping for a pregnancy in the future, she is the obvious choice. She is able to fully discuss the issues which are unique to women in pregnancy so that they may understand the special care and attention they will require during this time as well as into the future.

Dr Jarvis recently completed a Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine (with distinction) which broadens the depth of care she can offer. She is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology and Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand. She is currently undertaking research both locally and as part of international collaborations with interests in Obstetric Medicine and Nephrology.
