I am a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and have been working in private practice in Deakin since 2002. I have a mixed practice, as I look after women during their pregnancies and for their deliveries, and also look after women with gynaecological issues.
I have admitting and surgical rights at the Calvary John James Hospital in Deakin, the Capital Day Surgery Centre in Barton, and at The Canberra Hospital where I am able to operate on women who do not have private health insurance.
My obstetric practice is based around The Calvary John James Hospital. I am also a Visiting Medical Officer (specialist) at the Canberra Hospital, so am able to continue to look after my patients if they, or their babies require the specialist care only available at a tertiary hospital. I do share weekend call with a number of other Obstericians, all of whom can also look after you both at Calvary John James and The Canberra Hospitals.
With my colleague Dr Omar Adham we are able to look after most areas of gynaecology.
My particular areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
Pelvic Organ Prolapse– I am able to perform most procedures including vaginal and laparoscopic procedures to treat prolapses. We also keep a large range of pessaries to treat prolapses without surgery.
Urinary Incontinence– including diagnosis and both medical and surgical treatment. We are able to perform urodynamics studies in our own office if needed for the more complex cases.
Investigation and management of abnormal Pap smears – Colposcopy, and outpatient treatment in the office for precancerous abnormalities. (C-Quip colposcopy accreditation for 3 years)
Management of menstrual disorders– including both medical and surgical treatments
Contraceptive Advice: including insertion of Intrauterine devices, and permanent contraceptive procedures such as the new hysteroscopic technique or laparoscopic tubal ligation
Postmenopausal issues such as symptom management and investigation and treatment of abnormal bleeding.
Vulval skin disorders
We have a good working relationship with other health care providers if we are unable to deal with the problems completely ourselves, such as working with a Colorectal Surgeon, urologist and dermatologist.
