Professor Don Cameron is a paediatric and adolescent gastroenterologist with over forty years’ experience. He is Past President of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, the first paediatrician to be elected to that position.
He is Emeritus Head of Gastroenterology at Monash Children’s Hospital, a Senior Gastroenterologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, and in private practice.
Born and raised in Tasmania he underwent postgraduate training in London at the Great Ormond Street, Kings College and St Mark’s Hospitals.
He is involved in all areas of gastroenterology with special interests in coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopy and endoscopy training. He is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee of Coeliac Australia, Chair of the national colonoscopy quality committee, and former Chair of the Conjoint Committee for endoscopy training.
He used to be an advanced national competition aerobatic pilot but these days is more content to paddle a kayak and walk the dog on the beach at Inverloch.
