Dr Dominic Thyagarajan is a neurologist with a special interest in the medical and surgical treatment of movement disorders- Parkinson's Disease and related conditions, Tremor, Dystonia including blepharospasm and Tic disorders. Dr Thyagarajan graduated from the University of Melbourne, is an adjunct Professor (Neuroscience) at Monash University in the Southern Clinical School and has public appointments at the Alfred Hospital and Monash Medical Centre. Until recently, he was Director of Neurology at Monash Medical Centre, and before that, Director of Neurology at Flinders Medical Centre. Dr Thyagarajan obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate research degrees at the University of Melbourne and did his Physician's training and Neurology specialization at St Vincent’s and Alfred hospitals, Melbourne. He subsequently held Fellowship positions in the USA at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota and Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre, New York as an NHMRC CJ Martin Fellow. On returning to Australia he was appointed the head of Neurology at the Flinders Medical Centre where he established an integrated stroke unit and a comprehensive Deep Brain Stimulation program for movement disorders. Dr Thyagarajan visits Adelaide for consultation clinics in Movement Disorder and General Neurology with a special interest in Deep Brain Stimulation for Movement Disorders.
